New Caladonian Crested Geckos Rhacodactylus ciliatus were rediscovered in the early 1990's. These geckos feed on baby food (papaya, mango, and other mixed sweet fruits), crickets and small superworms. They mature in about a year, and are capable of producing 5-6 clutches of eggs per year. They are best kept in pairs or trios, males are very aggressive towards each other. Unlike a lot of geckos these can be handled without them becoming stressed. They have a prehensile tail with a pad on the tip for gripping tree limbs.
